Division of Public Health Sciences

The Division of Public Health Sciences conducts world-leading research, education and outreach to prevent cancer and other diseases, promote population health, and improve quality and access to health care in Missouri and beyond.

As part of the Department of Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine, the Division:

• Provides a platform for investigators from multiple disciplines to collaborate on innovative projects that affect public health and clinical care
• Supports an exceptional academic base through the education, training and mentoring of students, fellows and faculty on the art of population-based clinical outcomes research
• Improves the health and wellbeing of people and communities through educational outreach campaigns, professional talks and media appearances, and partnerships with community health organizations
• Identifies and implements strategies to reduce health disparities and health inequalities
• Leads TREC@WUSTL, a transdisciplinary research center examining the link between obesity and cancer
